Celebrate Chickasaw, Have an Antique Appraised, and Lunch At Ole' Reds Tishimingo, OK

Join us for a whirlwind tour of Tishomingo, the capital of the Chickasaw Nation. In addition to dining in Blake Shelton’s restaurant, Ole’ Reds, we will take in the authenticity of the town itself as it celebrates the annual Chickasaw Festival. We will take in some old fashioned stick ball, stomp dances and visit the vendors, including some who sell Indian jewelry. We will allocate some time to visit the local antique shops in town and will regroup at Elizabeth’s Antiques where Cristen Moore will not only appraise some of the antiques you may bring from home (small ones please) but she will show us how to research and determine the value of our treasures. On the way out of town we will stop and take in the original Chickasaw Governor’s Mansion and walk through the 1800’s 3-bedroom house which has been restored to its original grandeur. If you choose not to walk through the home, you can tour the foliage on the grounds and rest and relax before our trip back home.
Check-in for registration: 7:45am
Return to Rose State College by 7:30pm
